yes learning Mandarin Chinese is very important. i'm chinese and I can get around using Chinese in SE Asia and most metro cities in North America or anywhere in the world where there is a high Chinese population
So learn mandarin, because pretty soon, most of the business you'll be doing will be in China!
Plus is a cool language to learn!

Well, if you're Chinese but born and raised in other countries, it is probably important to learn the language especially if you plan to go to China someday and connect with relatives there. It is also important to learn Chinese if one plans to do business there.

It is totally unimportant, who cares about learning chinese? even if a westerner goes to china , all they want out of them is to learn english, no one really gives a rip about whether you can speak chinese anyway. It's important if you're a chinese.

No, not really,i mean unless you or your family is Chinese it would be extremaly hard to learn, especially is English is your mother tongue because then you have to learn the alphabet and sounds and how to put them all together. I have a friend who is STILL going to Chinese school and they are 15 and have been leaning since they were a baby. Unless you are planning to move to china no, because with no one around you it will be difficult to learn and remember
