Dogs rarely get constipated. You may want the vet to have a look and see if the anal glands need attention. Canned plain pumpkin can either firm up stool or loosen. The more you give the looser the poos. Call your vet for professional advice. Good luck

Don't self medicate with human laxatives in such a small dog. Try a bit of castor oil or cod liver oil. You need to tackle why your pet becomes constipated. Make sure there is fresh water down all the time as dehydration can cause constipation. Also try to use a very good quality feed and not too many treats. Real bones can also cause constipattion if given in too large a quantity.

A small amount of vegetable oil might help. Be careful how much you give or it will run all over. In future try to work some fibre into the dogs diet using the same fibre source you would for yourself just in smaller quantities.

prevention is the best cure. if you are feeding dry food, add a little canned food to increase moisture content. Metemusil'sFiber Sure powder is odorless and tasteless -add a very small amount of this powder ( eighth of a teaspoonful) daily to the food.Vet-recommended ( and i have a corgi mix with chronic constipation) and safer than laxatives-it is not habit-forming.

Milk, eggs might help, liver, etc. No rice that causes constipation and is binding. Of course the stuff I mentioned might give it the runs.

Canned pumpkin is good for constipation and diarrhea. It works both ways. Mix a little bit in with his food.

I'm not a vet, but I'd give it fiber. Try feeding it oatmeal, perhaps? Also, see if you can get it to drink a lot of water.
