There is a worldwide shortage of aerospace / structural engineers right now because everyone under the son switched majors during the dot com era + there has been a general decline in those majors because aerospace has been in the tank so long - the good news is - AIRBUS & Boeing are hiring like crazy because they either have launched or are launching new airplane programs - you should not have any problem getting into either company - unless you have a criminal record. Also, make sure you get a competancy based resume - because this is the way they process resumes in big companys - dont fret if it takes months to hear from them - their personell depts are notoriously slow. Boeing pays more, but Seattle & its people are dreary, depressed and usually wierd. People mistake politeness for friendliness - there is a difference - Seasttle is full of polite a$$holes.- but Toulose has better weather, great commraderee & french women & culture. Besides, working for an underdog is always more fun - and right now you are looking to get experiance - no ?

If you're based in the UK then the best place to start is the RAeS - The Royal Aeronautical Society. There is a similar organisation in the USA but I don't know what it is - do a search online.

Otherwise visit the company websites of the companies you're interested in.

Search the following:

Airbus/EADS
Boeing
BAE SYSTEMS
FINMECCANICA
