My system is corrupted, allowing programs to become locked or just shutting down on their own. I want to start over again and see how it works out. I would like to erase my entire hard drive.

you wil need windows installation disk for that. rest is explained in the link below

If you do a reinstall of Windows it will allow you to format the hard drive first. If you want to be certain nothing is left behind, use Darik's Boot & Nuke at www.sourceforge.net to securely wipe the hard drive first -- just make sure it's the ONLY drive connected when you boot from the DBAN CD because it will wipe ALL drives it finds.

Firstly,If ur system is just lockin or just shutting down on their own,start by doing a disk cleanup first,then defragment it,but if it still does'nt work out well,and You think you need a new hard drive,do backup for all your important files,and get a new hard disk.

Save your important data files, collect all your original operating system CDs and keep them handy. Microsoft web site guides you to do that step by step. Or load your operating system cd and relaod the program and follow the prompts step by step but I prefer the help from Microsoft.
