Lilmisssun, most people have cried on their pillow at some time in their lives. Often there are good reasons for this. Usually it is because they feel very alone, and you did say you were very lonely. Often this is because they have suffered a recent loss, this could be the loss of someone close, or the loss of their fortune or even the loss of their job. Some people can feel like this for no apparent reason and this could be because they are depressed, in which case a doctor can help.

Now its not a bad thing to have a good cry at night. Like I said, most people have done it at some stage in their lives, and the ones who say they have not are either very fortunate or are lying.

What is important is what you do when you wake up in the morning. You need to be with people, so you need to make the effort to meet with someone you know and trust. If you do not have such a person you can talk to the Samaritans. Joining a youth club can make you new friends. If its bills and such, then the Citizens Advice can help.

For just now, if you are not sleeping, why don't you browse these questions and do some answering. It will take your mind off things. I hope everything turns out OK for you.

Hi there!
I know you haven't actually said You feel this way but -
Im sorry if you do feel lonely :( here is something that i hope will make you smile for a couple of seconds.

Its hard to smile when things go wrong
Its easy to lose heart
But if you can keep on smiling
Its certainly a start
Happiness seems far away
when nights are long and sad
But just as good times pass away
So do all the bad
Trouble always fades away
If you can grin and bear it
But come on answers if it gets too much
And il be there to share it :)

Best Wishes

Whitner

I did cry a little last night, I was thinking about our cat that died about 15 months ago. I wasn't very kind to her at the end when she was ill and excreting all over the house. I had a chance to put it right and didn't and because of that I get upset when I think about it because I know what a b****** I was and I am ashamed.
I do get lonely as well, so I come on here and answer questions and hope to learn and enlighten.

Oh bless sweetheart no I don't these days, I have felt very lonely and down in the past, especially when I lost my mom, but I have a good husband who helped me come to terms with that, have you tried going to night school or joining a group of some sort just to get you out and about a bit and to meet new people, wish I could give you a big hug as you really sound like you need one.

Here's A Prayer for you:-
A Prayer For Those Who Live Alone
I live alone, Dear Lord,
Stay by my side,
In all my daily needs
Be Thou my Guide.
Grant me good health,
For that indeed I pray,
To carry on my work
From day to day,
Keep pure my mind,
My thoughts, my every deed,
Let me be kind, unselfish
In my neighbours need
Spare me from fire, from flood,
Malicious tongues,
From thieves, from fear,
And evil ones.
If sickness or an accident befall
Hear Thou my call,
And when I'm feeling low,
Or in despair,
Lift up my heart
And help me in prayer.
I live alone, Dear Lord,
Yet have no fear,
Because I feel your Pesence
Ever near. Amen
Hope this will bring you some comfort, there are a lot of lonely people out there, perhaps you could make a friend of one?

sounds like there is an under-lying reason which you haven't given us but I'm sure whatever it is it will pass - are you able to invite friends over or join a local club that would give you something to take your mind off this - perhaps try volunteering get details from your library - you will be surprised at the amount of lonely people who would be only to happy to have someone to chat to - if none of this works for you but the crying continues speak to your doctor for some advice

I am very lucky, I am not alone so I am not lonely.
It's a very sad thought, that people feel so lonely they just want to cry. I would like to think that being on here makes them feel less lonely.

When I lay in bed and think, I start feeling sorry for myself and the things I miss and people who I miss and lonely for a lover and missing old lovers and yes, I cry. But its just feeling sorry for myself, So instead I dream of winning the lotteery and my island and I don't cry. I dream about that till I fall asleep.

The only time i cry at night is after too many bottles of wine and whining along to sad songs on the stereo, but isnt that what everyones does - they say its good to have a good old blow out.

Christine's poem was beautiful. As far as being single, I think it is a gift at this time in my life--graduate course @ uni, professional development, needing a lot of time to get things done.
A partner would be nice, but at the same time, I realize the liabilities regarding time and emotional expendature outweigh the need to do everything for myself. So... I am happy to push on as I am.
I have loads of mates who are single or who have wives or partners who include all of us who are single, and life is good.
