Your stomach is using up a lot of energy digesting. There is less available for muscle and brain activity, hence the sleepy feeling. It's a good time to take a nap!

The stomach requires more blood in order to digest the food you've just eaten. This leaves less blood available to provide the brain with oxygen, so you feel sleepy.

If you have a heavy meal and it is not a healthy meal, you get sleepy because of the fat in the bloodstream.. You should never lay down after a meal because your heart has to work harder...

everybody does, don't worry, check the difference have salad instead, and you see what happens, is the amount of calories, and food that we have in a heavy lunch, when i have to run errands or do anything outthere i can't have a heavy lunch, i will fall sleep anywhere.

And not only your stomach... your metabolic system springs into action. Your whole body really has to work after a decent sized meal.
