maybe those traits are not petty when they are justified, and a supreme being would definitely know whether or not they are justified..

The God of the bible couldn't because God cant sin.
It against God nature to sin. No "revenge" but God can get angry
a just anger. He destroyed Sodom and Gumora because there were NO righteous in the city.

Almighty YHVH must explain things in ways that we understand. Therefore some terms are used somewhat loosely, or figuratively. The destruction of the wicked is referred to as His "strange act". He assures us He has no pleasure in the death of the wicked.
