As your hands will become "dirty" when you do go to the bathroom I don't see the point in washing my hands BEFORE. Unless your a surgeon and washing before is just habit, or obsessive compulsive and your going to be in their scalding your hands anyhow. After however I do wash my hands, or I'll run the water so people think I did.

I only wash my hands after going to the bathroom, and before eating, or washing my face...

Nurses can accidentally come into contact with all sorts of things, so I wash my hands before to prevent getting a urinary tract infection.
I used to be a cashier, and from handling money I would get bacteria on my hands and I'd get raging UTIs about once a month. Once I realized what was happening, I started washing before and I haven't had a UTI in over 4 years.
And washing after is just basic hygiene; toddlers can learn it, and if you don't do it you're just nasty.

In public restrooms I use hand sanitizer before, bring baby wipes who knows whats on that toilet paper and after I wash then use hand sanitizer. The only reason Im so anal about it is because I have small kids, I am trying to teach them sanitary habits. Now at home we wash our hands after. I am a retired Mortician and have seen a lot of germs in a lot of wierd places, a public bathroom is crawling with all kinds of germs and viruses.

When I am in public, always. At home, depends on what I've been doing since I last washed my hands. When I'm in public, after I'm finished, I use a paper towel or a tissue I carry with me to open the door.

Not before. Not only is this strange, but it will dry your hands out something horrible. Especially if you have to go as often as I do.

No, you will only dry your hands like that, especially in the wintertime. It is the after that matters.
