How about, instead of making all of the food yourself, make it a pot luck appetizer party. Ask everyone to bring the recipe for her appetizer on a 3x5 card. Then, when you're there, make a little recipe book for the bride by hole-punching one corner of each card, and tying it up with all the ribbons used to wrap the presents. It will make a present she remembers forever, and uses, that will always remind her of being a bride!

I'm in a similar position, but what I'm doing is making (or you can buy) mini pastry (shortcrust or puff) tartlet cases and then add fillings such as guacamole and cherry tomato halves; mushroom sauce and parsley garnish; caramelised onion and roast pumpkin; goats cheese and mango chutney; coriander, macadamia and salmon dip; refried bean & salsa with capsicum garnish; olive tapenade and hoummus.

A fruit platter is always good - but make sure it's bite-sized.

And chocolate fondue is making a huge comeback (and fun for bridal showers) - make two - a white chocolate and a dark chocolate. Just use chocolate and add cream a little at a time as it warms and melts until it is the right consistency (you may have to test this by dipping fruit or mini sponge finger biscuits in!). You can add a nip of liqueur such as butterscotch schnapps, cointreau, creme de menthe or mailbu for a special touch.

Good luck!

Sure you want to do appetizers? How about a main dish and a salad? Ok, here are some thoughts on appetizers:

1. Go to your nearest COSTCO and take a look at their premade
and frozen stuff. They have mass quantities and you can't
beat the price!

2. Vegetable platter with Ranch dip
3. Cheese and crackers
4. Hot Chili Cheese dip with tortilla chips
5. Hot artichoke dip with chips
6. Fruit skewers and sour cream, brown sugar dip
7. Salami and goat cheese rollups
8. Cucumber rounds with goat cheese and smoked salmon, top
with a dill sprig
9. Cheesecake bites, brownies, miniature cupcakes for dessert

Go to your local Sam's - they have tons of great items to choose from. Their chicken salad is wonderful & so is their spinach dip. In the freezer section, they have some really good mini quiches, meatballs, etc......Chips & dip, fruit salad and raw veggie trays are good ideas as well......
