HIV is present in these bodily fluids: They are in order starting with most present:

1) Blood <--- this one really has a lot of HIV
2) Semen <---this one is almost as much as blood
3) vaginal <---just a little less than number 2
4) breast milk<---just a teeny tiny bit less than number 3

The following have very very very very little HIV present and none at all as it gets to the bottom of the list:

Saliva <---so little is almost undetectable
Sweat/perspiration <---absolutely none at all
tears <--same as the prior
urine/feces <---wow, these really don't have any HIV at all

Wow I've never seen so many ignorant answers. Lets get this straight:

Only transfer of blood and semen from an HIV+ve person can give AIDS to another person.

The concentration in saliva and vaginal fluids is too weak to pass on the infection. Also, if they have it and you swallow saliva / vaginals, the virus is a protein so it will be de-aminated i.e. destroyed by your digestive juices. There are NO known or proven cases anywhere in the world of HIV being transmitted by swallowing the come of a woman (or even a man for that matter), let alone saliva.

Also if your mouth or gums are bleeding they can only bleed outwards, so this doesnt pass on the infection either.

No, you cannot get the HIV virus from saliva. The four body fluids that transmit it are semen, breast milk, vaginal fluid and blood. So, for example if both people had sores in their mouths then yes, it is possible but fairly rare. There is so little virus in saliva that you would need to drink 3 gallons of an HIV positives individuals saliva to be at risk.

It can but is highly unlikely. You would need to come in contact with a LOT of saliva in order to risk infection.

There is absolutely no way to transmit HIV through shared glasses, silverware, etc. Kissing is also fairly safe.

The biggest risk comes from an OPEN sore in or around the mouth that might accept the virus and introduce into another bloodstream. Again, this is still fairly rare however.

No, that is almost impossible. The thing is, there is so little HIV present in the amount of saliva transferred in a kiss, that people don't usually ever get it like that. The most common way is blood or semen/vaginal fluid. So, no, you can't get it from saliva, tears or any other sort of secretion like urine. A lot of people think it can be transfered this way, but it can't. You shouldn't be afraid to kiss a person infected with HIV or AIDS, you won't get it.

Noooooooooooo! Gosh! Do not listen to these people. It's BLOOD, SEMEN, AND VAGINAL SECRETIONS. That means, no urine, no feces, no saliva, no tears. For crying out loud, it's 2007. If you get into a relationship with a person who is HIV+, they will give you all the info you need. Don't worry about it right now unless you are shooting H outside the club or some such thing.

Let's just say that if you WANTED to transmit HIV via saliva, you would have your work cut out for you.

I read somewhere that you would have to drink like a gallon of saliva belonging to and HIV positive person in order to even be AT RISK.So it's my understanding that no, you can't.
