I'm 15 years old and i just went to the endocrinologist. She was a horrible doctor! She said that i have high insulin, yet i don't know what to do. I'm taking my medicine and i even bought a meter to check my blood sugar because i want to be watchful. Previously i have checked my blood sugar and so on, but i swear i never go over 100. I'm always in the low 90's. How can this be? Everything just doesn't add up. Like my body shows signs of high insulin like a brown ring around my neck yet i don't have extremely low blood sugar. I just tested and it was 88.

Possibly, you are taking too much insulin for your particular metabolism, diet and level of activity. If so, you would expect low blood sugar levels - which yours are (although not out of a typical range for people without diabetes). A person that is not diabetic has blood sugars around 80 when they wake up in the morning, an the blood sugars may rise to around 150 a few hours following a meal, and during the day, average around 100. It looks like you need to get with a doctor you like and set up a different treatment approach. Its possible your doctor might recommend keeping slightly higher sugar levels than present, or maybe prescribe a different dose of insulin. You can't let something like this continue.

Sorry sweetie, not enough info. Your numbers sound great. I don't know what could cause the brown ring... that's weird. I'm going to go against the grain, because I have very little faith in doctors, and say learn all you can about this. Since your blood sugar is so stable and, as long as you're feeling okay, I would find a new doc, asap. You failed to mention what medicine you're taking. Does your pillow smell and have a brown spot where your neck is? If so, it's just a lousy diet and that's easy to fix. Read my diabetes info page and learn what I've learned. No more brown spots, no more smell, blood sugar is rock steady, and I feel great: http://www.geocities.com/seabulls69/Type_II_Diabetes.html

If she is saying that you have 'high insulin' she means that you are hypoglecemic and that your glucose levels simply run slightly lower than average. Insulin lowers your blood sugar, so the fact that you are 'always in the low 90s' makes sense. You don't necessarily need to have 'extremely low blood sugar' in order to be hypoglycemic, just lower than average, which it sounds like you are if you're always in the 80s and 90s...

I was always told the brown ring around your neck is because you're insulin intolerant. I'm Hypoglycemic, if you feel fine don't worry about it. my readings never get above 110 after I eat, 120 if I have a candy.

have a look at some of the foods you eat as a diabetic during pregnancy my blood sugar was off the chart we worked it out it was because i was eating Kellogg's special K cereal although low is sodium and fats its high in sugar try starting one day at a time leaving out one of the foods you eat everyday and doing it by deduction and keeping a food diary good luck i wish you well

thats weird...are those symptoms also related to low blood sugar?...normal blood sugar levels should be around 120...try to get your blood sugar around the 120's and see if that helps anything...it might be because it is always low.

It sounds like you are saying she is horrible because she did not tell you what you wanted to hear. Remember a doctor is dispassionate and is there to help you,but you could always seek a second opinion.
