I would gladly consume eggs if I were not allergic to them. My 12 year old veggie daughter eats them. We get them from a local farm, and know the chickens are free range and treated humanely. People always try to tell my daughter she is eating meat if she is eating eggs, which is a load of codswallop. I explained to her, that like a woman who is not fertizlized has a menstrual period, same goes for eggs. It has never been fertilized, and therefor is not meat. Enjoy your eggs if you can have them. No need to listen to what others say you "can" or "cant" have-its your diet. Vegans do not eat eggs, as they do not use animal or animal byproducts at all.

Egg is not part of all vegetarian diets, but only of ovo-vegetarian or ovo-lacto vegetarian diets. It is considered that a non-fertilized egg has no life in it. Yes, many vegetarians eat eggs. Eggs are not baby chickens, but are a female chicken's period. A female's egg (of any species,) unfertilized by semen, is not life. Some religious vegetarians, such as the Buddhists, Jains, Hindus and Sikhs, do not consider eggs vegetarian. In conventional egg production-- Just hatched male chicks are killed, either by being gassed or being thrown into a mincer. 'Spent' hens are sent to slaughter. So killing is involved in commercial mass egg production. (Comment--my daughter's teacher gives non fertile eggs to her students from her pet chickens. I felt okay about accepting those.....) Well, since the chicken egg was never fertilized, it doesn't really count as meat since it was never a living organism. In some cases, Vegitarians decide to swear off all products coming from an animal ( also known as a vegan) but other choose to eat such things as eggs or even fish. So, it's really a personal choice Ovo-vegetarians are vegetarians that eat eggs. Vegans do not eat eggs. If the objection is to the exploitation of animals, then eggs and dairy are generally excluded. This is the vegan philosophy. If the objection is to killing, then fertilized or possibly fertilized eggs would be excluded, but others may be permitted. This is the vegetarian philosophy. Only if you are a lacto-ovo vegetarian or an ovo vegetarian. (Ovo means egg) yes, vegetarians can. Vegans can't eat anything that has come form an animal ... such as eggs. It is a non vegetable non meat. It is an ancilliary animal product, a "pat of a chicken's period" if you will. Vegetarian food is anything that does not involve the death of a fully fledged animal. =======================================... Baby Beauty

There are three types of vegetarian; Vegetarian, Vegan and octo-lacto vegetarian. Vegetarians are willing to consume some animal byproducts such as gelatin while vegans don't eat anything that casts a shadow (that's a joke). It is a much more strict diet. The octo-lacto vegetarian will consume milk and eggs as these are not considered "animal cruelty". In my opinion, humans are evil tormentors. Kill, eat, kill, eat, and pray for forgiveness. Or eat a salad.

There are Vegetarians and then there are vegetarians.
Since eggs aren't in the veg category, people come up with all sorts of wacky explanations about how they can be a vegetarian and still eat eggs, milk, fish etc etc etc.

Now for all of you folks that still think it is cool to eat eggs, please watch:

It depends on what kind of vegetarian you are refering to. Ovo-lacto vegetarians consume eggs. Others such as vegans and lacto-vegetarians don't.
As a vegan, I don't eat eggs, so eggs in my food is a nono.
