I have a 15 year old cat whose kidneys are shutting down and weights less than 4 lbs. I need to put him to sleep. How much does it cost?

No, price doesn't matter. I was just wanting to know. I'd have him put to sleep no matter how much it cost but obviously I have to actually GET the money together to pay for it.

Angela---I'm very very sorry for you and your precious cat. FYI- When we had this exact same set of circumstances our vet came to our home and euthanised our pet for free. We had one vet the entire 16 years of our pet's life. The vet was so kind. He had just as hard a time as we did. Maybe your vet would do the same for you.

Well, you don't put a pet down because it peed in an inappropriate place. This is usually caused by some physical problem like a urinary tract infection, which is treatable. Our power to end an animal's life is reserved for allowing an animal to die with dignity, when there is not hope of recovering from an illness or injury and the animal's quality of life is poor. Most vets offer various euthanasia options, but a basic charge would be about $50.

It depends on whether the vet will make you get an exam or not, but since I read your other question, I'm pretty sure he/she won't. The cost of euthanesia usually varies between 40-65, depending on where you live. Your best bet is to just ask. If you have a kill shelter in your town, you can also ask them if they'll do it for a small fee. They might if you provide documentation of your cat's condition.

I spent $200 for Cameo's euthanasia at the vet's in November. That was with cremation and of course I was able to be there with her when she went to sleep.

If you want an individual cremation and have the ashes to keep that can cost another $100.

Our humane society does it for much less than that and you cannot be present when the procedure is carried out.

I was at the vet once and someone had their cat there that had been hit by a car and was badly injured and the owner could not afford the care the cat needed. The owner was forced to euthanize the cat. I am in California and I believe the cost to the owner was around $50. I am sorry for your loss, hope this helps.

It costs between $30-$60 ...depending on the vet and whether you plan of having the vet take care of him afterwards or bring him home to bury...It's sad, I know...We just had to do the same with our 17 yr old dog but youre doing the right thing...You have my sympathies ..You are losing a dear friend

The cost is different everywhere. If you cannot afford the cost to put her down (my mom had this problem with her dog.)

Take her to an animal shelter (not a no-kill animal shelter) and give her up. They will put her to sleep after you leave and all they ask is a donation if you can afford one.
I am sorry.

I am sorry this is happening to your kitty. Never had to do it but I just wanted to commenton the answer that Detroit 1701 submitted. That was the stupidest, cold hearted thing I believe I have ever read. Could this be why these kind of people don't have much to offer?

Call a vet, as we cannot advise you; only they can. Sorry to hear about your impending loss, but it's the most humane thing you can do for it.
