I did not know that.
But, I have an interesting story. There was this one 'Cajun Food' place in the food court of a big shopping mall in Southern California. As I'd walk by it looking at all the other fast food places in the food court, I would notice that they would be giving away little samples. Well what was interesting was that all the employees working in this Cajun place were asian. Very peculiar. So I decided to tr their 'shrimp etoufee'. It tasted just like sweet and sour shrimp. I then looked at their 'jambalaya'.....it sure looked like fried rice to me. And many of their other 'cajun' dishes sure looked like familiar chinese dishes to me. Now, that was a case of food deception if I ever saw one!

The simple fact is British people do not know Bangladesh to the extent that they know India, and so it's easier to label it as Indian Cuisine. Nobody disputes a lot of it's authentic Bangladeshi cuisine.
When Indians came to the UK in the 60's they came professionally as doctors, however Bangladeshis came in the 70's and 80's, most of them with rural backgrounds--they came as restaurant owners or chefs.
