Find out what your last TSH was and make sure that all future ones are below 2.0. more like 1.0. This is the morning TSH, not a TSH done in the afternoon. ALWAYS TEST TSH IN THE MORNING! Having a TSH to high can stop one from losing weight.
If your TSH is around 1.0 and you aren't losing weight with diet & exercise another option is switching thyroid medications. Many people are on T4 and what they need are both T4 & T4 like in Armour thyroid.
Another problem could be insulin resistance that developed because of the weight gain caused by the hypothyroidism. To test for this you have a fasting glucose and a fasting insulin.
For both hypothyroidism and insulin resistance you want to reduce carbs, as its the carbs that don't break down as easily when hypothyroid.
Remember to exercise at least 3-4 times a week. Increase fiber in the diet as this will make you feel fuller and help with digestion.

For the vast majority of thyroid diseases, your weight will normalize when you are on the correct dose of thyroid replacement hormone (thyroid medication). This can be adjusted depending on your blood work.
Make sure that it really is your thyroid levels that are affecting your weight issues. If your levels are within normal range (although some people find they need a bit more thyroid hormone to feel good than just "normal" range), then take a good look at your diet and exercise routine and adjust as needed.
There are very *rare* metabolic conditions and thyroid diseases that affect weight despite treatment. If you fall into this unlucky category, a strict diet and exercise program will help you to stay as close to a normal weight as possible. Your doctor can refer you to a dietitian and trainer.

I've tried many diets and couldn't make anything work. Since having my first child, I've been carrying around an extra 30 pounds. This diet just made sense and showed me that everything I was doing before was wrong and a waste of my time.
The plan was so refreshing and so simple to follow. I did everything plan said and lost 23 pounds in the first three weeks. I'm now starting the diet again to lose 7 more pounds. This plan has changed my life.
Get started today!
