I would like your honest suggestions/criticism on how I can improve.
Personally, I would have preferred having more light on the bear's face but our guide told us where to sit, no walking around and it wasn't like I could ask them to pose for me.

Also, I didn't use a tripod (shame on me) because it had been raining for at least two hours and I had all to do but keep my camera dry. The sun finally came out for some of them...

On the landscape shot I intentionally wanted to show the "vastness" of the area and the bears environment in the photo since most of my photos are closeups. Maybe I should have centered the bear and zoomed in more on this photo?
You can see more photos (Alaska, etc.) above the thumbnails by clicking on "My Albums."

Ara57- I used my Nikor lens 18-200. Our tour guide had us sitting about twenty feet from this sow.
Thanks for the "steady hand" comment, I'm 62 yrs. old and that was nice to hear. Not sure if my camera has the best stabilizer or not (Nikon D200) but I'm sure the credit goes to my camera.
For me, I like my landscape photo like it is, but one suggestion was that I should have zoomed in because they weren't sure what my subject was I focused on, so I mentioned "centering the bear."

Dr. Sam - I like your idea and will keep it in mind... to have a subject appear to "barge in" on the scene. This would come in handy for some photo situations in the future. If I do crop my landscape photo, I will do it that way...

My goodness, you have some impressive pictures. I will comment on your comment, though.

"Maybe I should have centered the bear and zoomed in more on this photo."

If you are going to do this, I suggest that you should AVOID centering the bear. Put him down in the corner somewhere, almost as if he was barging in on your scenic photo. This will make the scale more dramatic.

Wow, amazing pictures, you must have been so close. If I knew tons of people that loved grizzly bears, I 'd recommend that they go to your site and look at the pictures.

Next, take pictures of peafowl (my favorite)

My advice, though..if you can...get rid of the midi music. Don't force people to listen to it to look at your pictures. Some people would be "That music sucks, I can't stand it anymore" and leave your site before looking at all the pictures. Also, on slower computers, having the music will make it take longer for the page to load. If you must have the music, make the player visible but the music optional. Like say on myspace pages, if people are really interested in what music you like..they'll press play or leave the page running if it's an automatic player.

Also, if you feel you must keep the midi player...why not have more songs to it.

Perhaps have a seperate slideshow for the pictures that don't feature bears as well? (Unless they are from the same trip) How about adding titles to all of your photos, unless you think that would detract from the beauty of the photo itself.

Another suggestion, describe what type of camera you used and other specifications..for those who are photography enthusiats such as yourself.

Sorry this was more about the music then the pictures. But words cannot describe your pictures, they are so beautiful, high quality, crisp. It makes the viewer feel like they are having a close personal encounter with a majestic creature.

Keep taking photos, you have a gift.

I thought the picture would have been better if you had zoomed in on the bear, maybe near the water, or focused on the mountains or treelines. I was unsure what you meant the subject of your photo was as you had a lot of background, with a bear towards the left.

I like the landscape, but the riverbed area was too desolate.

Very nice!

How long was your lens? I'm surprised they are that sharp without using a tripod, you have a steady hand and/or vibration reduction!

Centering your subject in a landscape oriented shot is not a good idea. Use the rule of thirds regarding subject placement for more dynamic images.

As for the music...I always have my speakers turned down, so I didn't even know it had music, lol!

Overall, good job!

a number of those are very reliable, and one or 2 i might very nearly assume to work out in a calendar or poster. the only concern i in my opinion see as lacking is the widely used of the pictures themselves, no longer the pictures. what kind of digicam are you using? If the digicam isn't expert then i might recommend getting a Canon digital revolt or some thing that may not circumvent your glaring photographic expertise. in case you have a consultant digicam, then i might play with some extra of the settings... in case you shoot in uncooked, you need to use Photoshop to do wonders on your already mind-blowing pictures. reliable pastime! shop up the great artwork!

The bear pictures were remarkable. You composed the pictures well. There is good detail, they are clear and you were able to get some closeups showing texture of the fur. Good work.
