If you want an easy way, then there are 2 different ways:-

1.
Cook the dal in pressure cooker. Now in a pan heat 2 tbsp oil, add the rai, then the hing, you can add crushed ginger and dried whole red chilles to it. mix it and allow the ginger to cook well in oil. now add the curry leaves and the dal. add salt, dhanajeera, turmeric, red chilli powder, jaggery and mix it well and if you want can add some water as well. cook it for about 15-20 min, add some tomatoes and cook for 3 min. take it from the gas and then add coriander leaves and serrve it.

2.
Cook the dal in pressure cooker. Now in a pan heat 2 tbsp oil, add some cumin seeds and then some chopped onions. allow the onion to cook or until they become transperant. add crushed ginger, green chillies and garlic and mix it well. cook it for 3-4 min. now add the curry leaves, dried whole red chillies, turmeric, dhanajeera, salt, chopped tomatoes and mix it well and allow it to cook till it becomes a paste. add to it the dal and mix it. cook it for 10 min. if you want can add a little bit of water. sprinkle coriander leaves on it and serve it. if you want you can do the vaghar of crushed garlic on it befor adding the coriander leaves. (just like dal fry)

Both the methods can be use for any dal you wish to have with rice. They are very easy and the dal also becomes tasty.
