At other times i'm completely normal.I have been sleep deprived as it wil subside only ifi sit straight. Can any1explain the condition and some remedies?

Definitely need to see an Ear/Nose/Throat doc.

Does it happen in all positions? either side, back and stomach?

Also, do you have anyone who can observe you? Or, have a camcorder to record when you do sleep? You also might want to chat with your relatives to see if any of them have heard of similar ailments.

The breath right strips help to open up nasal passages. Making sure you don't eat anything for several hours before sleeping might be a good test to see if it is somehow related to your esophageal ailments.

Smoking can cause this or COPD, either way you need to see a doctor,,,
