For people that seacrh and there are only old answers: The normal range has since been revised in textbooks to 50 - 90 bpm for a human at total rest. The normal heart rate number can vary as children and adolescents tend to have faster heart rates than average adults. So for this teenager was normal.

No that is not bad. If that is a pulse right when they wake up then yes. But, if you have been walking, moving around, or anything that it is a fine pulse. When I exercise my pulse goes to 150 to 190 bpm depending on how hard I am pushing myself.

So, it all depends on what you are doing. That is a fine pulse but when resting you would like to have it lower.

There are so many opinions on this, & as a psychologist, I wouldn't dream of giving you an opinon. However, my pulse rate has been high eighties or over, most of my life. That is, RESTING rate, & here I am. That's not to say that the rate doesn't indicate different things for different people.

the desired heart rate is 6o....your pulse can fluctuate for many reasons.....caffeine is one of many things that can increase it...stress can increase it ( stress can be good things as well as bad things..excitement is stress on your heart whether it is caused by good or bad things...illness is a stress...ah! cigs are a major stressor on your heart )....many many things can influence your heart rate
NOW to answer your question is a heart rate of 72 anything to worry about? No, probably not. More important....what is your blood pressure? even young adults should get their blood pressure checked regularly

Actually, the normal average is 70 ... and that also depends on what a person was doing, prior to taking their bpm. There's nothing wrong with your heart rate.

No that is not bad. Pulse varies from person to person as well as depending on what they have been doing.

It's fine, but it is probably lower laying down and higher standing up, try that.
