Actually, most scientists don't speak of a sex with a chimpanzee origin for HIV.

The theories as to how AIDS jumped from chimpanzees to humans are:

1) the cut hunter theory - blood from a chimpanzee gets into a hunter's wound

2) the oral polio vaccine theory - the particular polio vaccine was cultivated in chimpanzees as part of the manufacturing process and then transmitted to humans

3) the contaminated needle theory - researchers in Africa worked on chimpanzees, but due to the lack of medical supplies, needles were reused on humans

4) the labor camp "heart of darkness" theory - similar to the hunter theory, but involves impoverished laborers in colonial labor camps dining on an infected chimpanzee

5) the conspiracy theory - HIV is actually a bio weapons program from the CIA or the KGB (take your pick) gone awry.

Most experts believe that HIV probably transferred to humans as a result of direct contact with primates, for instance during hunting or butchery. IN all the research i have read there is nothing about having sex with primates..in fact aids was first discovered in 5 men...in LA, 3/5 were not homosexual..

No. The theory is that somebody ate an infected monkey and the rest is history. Theres also a theory that monkeys were used to make some kind of serum, maybe anti-polio serum, vaccine, and the virus got into humans by getting that injected into them in the 1950's in Africa.

scientists found evidence that the disease existed in the world for some years prior, i.e., subsequent analysis of a blood sample of a Bantu man, who died of an unidentified illness in the Belgian Congo in 1959, made him the first confirmed case of an HIV
infection. Both of the AIDS viruses, HIV-1 and HIV-2, originated in Africa... As is often the case with microbes, a jump from one species to another is probably to blame... chimpanzees (for HIV-1) and sooty mangabeys (for HIV
