Metabolic and Nutritional Side Effects of Prozac:
Frequent: Weight gain.
Infrequent: Dehydration, generalized edema, gout, hypercholesteremia, hyperlipemia, hypokalemia, peripheral edema.
Rare: Alcohol intolerance, increased alkaline phosphatase, increased BUN, increased creatine phosphokinase, hyperkalemia, hyperuricemia, hypocalcemia, iron deficiency anemia, increased SGPT.

Prozac may increase appetite resulting in increased ingestion of carbohydrates ultimately leading to poor blood sugar control and weight gain. It has no direct metabolic effects on glucose metabolism.

On the other hand, leuprolide ("Lupron") has been rarely associated with both diabetes and hypoglycemia in a number of clinical trials on prostate cancer even though causality correlations are difficulty to infer...

Nope. Type 1 diabetes is either an autoimmune disease in children or caused by an outside factor like an auto accident or surgery or some such problem. You must be in the later stages of type 2 diabetes where your pancreas is about 50% or more nonfunctional when it comes to insulin production. Another problem might be that you haven't been exercising like you are supposed to and usually eating bad foods. You MUST control your blood sugars. The higher they get, the more damage they do. Anything above 180 can kill beta cells by the thousands. Keep blood sugars as low as you can, but never less than 70.

High blood levels of glucose can cause several problems, including frequent urination, excessive thirst, hunger, fatigue, weight loss, and blurry vision. However, because type 2 diabetes develops slowly, some people with high blood sugar experience no symptoms at all. How to treat diabetes naturally https://tr.im/XJDwb

Symptoms of type 1 diabetes:

Increased thirst
Increased urination
Weight loss in spite of increased appetite
Fatigue
Nausea
Vomiting

Patients with type 1 diabetes usually develop symptoms over a short period of time, and the condition is often diagnosed in an emergency setting.

I just checked several Fluoxetine (Prozac) websites. As with most drugs, the side affects vary. Each site simply said to watch your blood sugar and check with your doctor. In other words, they don't know. Of course, your doctor isn't going to know either. I was on SSRIs (the same group of antidepressants as Prozac) and none affected my blood sugar. Hope that helps. I've had Type 1 for 40 years. Over that time span I've given myself about 42,000 injections.
I don't take Prozac, but I know it's a psychoactive drug rather than a more metabolic one, and my first reaction would be that it wouldn't affect blood sugar control. But I'm not a doctor, so that's just a guess, I guess.

Diabetes is usually treated through a combination of diet (low sugar), exercise and medications/insulin. Milder cases can be controlled with just diet an/or exercise while more severe cases require meds or insulin as well.

Prozac is enzyme-based so probably has no effect on your blood sugar levels.

It's good that you're thinking and concerned, though.
