I had a bladder infection 2 and a half weeks ago that was treated with a five day course of antibiotics. I went back today because of pain in the upper back and bladder area. This I was told that there was no bacteria, but blood in the urine. The urine sample was sent to be cultured to see if it would grow bacteria not seen in the office test. If nothing grows then what could it mean. I did have a hys. 18 months ago and there after, that's when the bladder infection thing began.

I am only 19 years old and I have the exact same issue as you. I have had reccurent bladder infections for the last few years, and just recently, I was found to have kidney stones. Once my first batch of stones passed, I went in for a follow up urine exam and they also found blood but no bacteria in my urine sample. They sent it in for a culture, but nothing grew. They couldnt give me any explanations, they didnt even try to find a small cure. I was sent home, no treatment, and 4 months later I'm still okay. I'm not sure why it happens, but if you're one of the lucky ones prone to bladder infections, then I think it just comes with the package. Your best bet would be to talk to a Urologist about it. Best wishes and good luck.

Most certainly you are suffering from Kidney issues.
The kidneys and bladder are directly asociated with eachother and having pains in the upper back is a BIG sign of kidney issues.

I will bet you $5 you are more MORE THAN likely to have a mild to moderate kidney infection. Not uncommon. Many women who end up with bladder infections can get kidney infections.

A bladder infection is caused by bacteria in the bladder. Inflamation and multiple infections can cause the bladder (ifnection) to backup and spill bacteria into the kidneys. Don't worry - you aren't going to die - even though you may be suffering more than your latest yeast infection....

Sorry I can't help more.
I will tell you that Cranberry does not treat bladder and kidney issues - BUT DOES help prevent them......... There is an enzyme in cranberry that HAS been MEDICALLY proven to prevent (help prohibit) bacteria from sticking to the walls of the bladder.

Once you get over this, I suggest you make a 4 ounce per day commitment to drink the cranberry juice. You can even buy the unsweetened - undiluted cran from your local health fod store and just take a tablespoon per day. Even easier. THey now sell craberry enzyme sups in your local grocery store (where the AZo bladder/ yeasties treatment section is) It will say CRANBERRY across the front. Get some.

Good Luck -
Happy Healing.

you could have a urinary tract infection or it could be related to the hys. we (i work in a doctors office) send cultures out because some bacteria can't be identified by the machines in the office. also there can be blood if a woman is having a miscarriage or stones.

The most common reason is a UTI (urinary tract infection), but since it sounds like that has been ruled out...the next most common reason is renal tract stones. You may have to have an ultrasound to rule stones out.
Being a female it could possibly be vaginal bleeding. It could also be coming from the gastrointestinal tract, which might implicate a bleeding ulcer.
Keeping asking the doctor questions until the reason for the problem is found.

The use of antibiotics might have failed to reduce inflammation. I suspect glomerulonephritis, which is the inflammation of the kidney tubules. But even being a doctor, i can't suggest or recommend medicine untill actually seeing you or your pathologic reports. Plz consult a physician as soon as possible.......On this forum, i wish you health and good luck.

the blood in your urine and back pain suggests that you may have a problem with your kidney. visit an urgent care for a CT Scan. this is the only definitive way to diagnosis.

They can see blood in your urine if you take a lot of aspirin sometimes too. Medication could have caused it. I've had drs see blood in my urine before (I had a hyst. also) and it wasn't anything bad.
