i have a family i need to stop smoking for my self and them

Go on the patch, it makes you sick if you smoke with it on. When you have a craving suck on a mint. I quit 2 1/2 weeks ago and that is working pretty good for me. Also don't tell yourself that you cannot have one, tell yourself that you don't want one. GOOD LUCK

you could try the patches, or the gum but when I quit smoking I gradually quit. Set a goal for yourself. If you smoke a pack a day cut down to 3/4 pack a day. Do this for a week and then cut down to 1/2 pack a day. When ever you are stressed out do not smoke but find another habit to insert (food is not the best because then you put on weight and want to start smoking again to lose weight) in place of smoking. Keep doing this until you are smoking only 3 or 4 cigs a day and by then you will be able to stop completely. Once you stop smoking it will be amazing how much better you smell and can taste. There are support groups to help you quit smoking and it might be helpful to look into those.

BTDT I quit a 5 pack a day habit after 55 years of smoking

THe patches and gum etc are ok if your smoking a 1/2 pack a day or less

Beyond that you need to really want to quit

Cut back a little at a time

I quit smoking by gradually cutting down (quitting cold turkey didn't work for me, either!). You can try the patch or the gum, or if you'd rather not have the expense, you can just try to cut down how often you smoke. See if you can pinpoint the times you're most likely to smoke. (For me, it was after meals. I let myself have a cigarette after breakfast, lunch and dinner as I was cutting down.) Then pinpoint the times you smoke without really noticing it...subconsiously, kind of. I did that a lot in my car, so that was what I tried to cut out first. It's hard, but it can definitely be done. Just don't beat yourself up over a setback or two. Try to find new activities to take the place of smoking! For me, getting back into my running routine helped. Good luck. :)

Mine smoked from 19 years old to 49 years old he went to his doctor and got the patch with the prescription Wellbutrin. The patch gradually lessens your cravings and the Wellbutrin takes the 'edge' off because your going to feel lousy, angry, out of sorts and you want to stay calm and as human as possible.
He hasn't smoked since November, 1999. (he has a craving or 2 but nothing that made him go out and buy a pack.. anyways he said its too darn expensive!)
He tried other methods along with cold turkey and the gum(which made his jaw hurt a lot) but nothing worked as long as this has.. make an appointment and give it a shot!

Dont ask me, Ive tried em all... The losenge worked better than the gum or the patch. Check your health care plan, my work offers a 200 $ quit smoking program. I heavent tried it yet but prescription may work. Also, you may want to check with your state, some states offer free anti smoking methods like the patch or the gum. Good Luck!!

I smoked when I was young also, then I got a job at a hospital
and saw emphysema at Its best several times. That's when I said to myself ( there is a lot of ways to leave this world and that is not going to be the one for me ) I also said to my wife I am not going to have my last smoke ,I already have had my last , I then took almost a full carten of cigarettes along with the daily trash out to the burning barrel ,and I have not had a cigarette seance,
