marytormeye, what are you talking about? "justwondering" didn't even say he/she was depressed, and you're asking all these stupid questions like "What do you that indicates you may be trying to harm or punish yourself? What's that all about? Am I missing something here?

Here is a search I did on drugs.com
You have searched for drug interactions between the following drugs: Zantac, atenolol

Drug-Food Interactions

atenolol (moderate Drug-Food)
Description:

GENERALLY AVOID:
Orange juice may moderately reduce the bioavailability of atenolol by interfering with its absorption from the gastrointestinal tract. In a pharmacokinetic study, subjects ingested 200 mL orange juice 3 times daily for 3 days and twice daily on the fourth day, and took 50 mg atenolol with 200 mL orange juice on day 3. The average peak plasma concentration (Cmax) of atenolol fell by 49% and the area under the concentration-time curve (AUC) fell by 40% in comparison to subjects who drank only water. In addition, the presence of food may reduce the bioavailability of atenolol by 20%. The clinical significance is unknown.

MANAGEMENT:
Patients treated orally with atenolol should be advised to take atenolol at the same time each day and to avoid consumption of large amounts of orange juice to prevent any undue fluctuations in serum drug levels. Monitoring for altered efficacy of atenolol may be advisable.

I definitely agree with tweety bir that you should consult your doctor and not here!
I take atenolol and prilosec (omeprazole-generic) and have been for 20 plus years. Never any kind of problem. I do have heart problems which are genetic in origin but long before that was ever diagnose I took Atenolol and prilosec.
I would definitely consult your physician before taking any medications! My cardiologist has warned me about ANY over the counter medications without first consulting him!

I have done some research on atenolol and it interacts with antacids. I see atenolol as being risky because your body can develop a tolerance. "Do not stop taking atenolol without talking to your doctor. Suddenly stopping atenolol may cause chest pain, heart attack, or irregular heartbeat. Your doctor will probably decrease your dose gradually."

You shouldn't be expected to interpret all the data that's been shoved down your throat so I'll make this simple for you. Before adding any medications to what you already take, check with your doctor. Let your doctor make this determination.
