Mostly rice and corn, actually. The rest is animal byproducts.
The stuff is baked (or treated to a high-pressure steam bath), then coated in fats, oils, and flavoring items.
The cheaper stuff is very, very unhealthy.

It depends on what brand dog food you buy. It can vary from sawdust and animal bi-products, to vegetables and lamb. It is not regulated the way that human food is, so the manufatures have a lot of lead way when determining what they want to put into dog food. Dogs are animals, with a very healthy digestive system. A wild dog can survive off of decaying meat and survive just fine. They have natural enzymes in their systems that break down the toxins in these foods, and they thrive.
Don't eat dog food! Or dogs.

I thought I read somewhere that if the animal had cancer or some such disease that could be cut out after it was slaughtered, then it would be condemned for human consumption, but allowed for animal or pet consumption???
