Perth Tink and Dundeedee you can slag the validity of my figures if you like, but even if Dundee are only £ 7 million in debt, it is still an astronomic amount of money for a wee diddy club struggling in the lower reaches of Scotland`s second division. Don`t shoot the messenger, ask yourself why this situation was allowed to develop and more importantly, what is being done to improve the situation. I would say without serious financial help, Dundee are only a stones throw away from joining Clydebank , Third Lanark and Airdrieonians as another piece of Scotland`s footballing history.

I care! I think it's a sad indictment of our time unfortunately. Some football clubs spend a fortune trying to keep up with the rest. Even then, they still cannot really compete. It is sad.

Not particularly. In reality for a population of 5m there really are too many football teams in the system. Unfortunately there seems to be a deep rooted need to keep these teams alive. If this is the case get these clubs to sell of their land for development and re-invest in a stadium that they can share. Will that happen? Probably not.
Before anybody jumps in with well Rangers & Celtic should consider the same, no they should not. THEY can GUARANTEE 50,000 - 60,000 turning up on a fortnightly basis, the rest cannot.
And even when a club sell off land (Partick Thistle anyone), they still get shafted by the ruling body (Inverness Caledonian Thistle anyone).
If indeed this is the case that Dundee and those investing in it are £19m in debt well it shows bad stewardship of a club that really has no hope of turning it round
Like Airdrie should have been 4 - 5 years ago maybe it is time to hang up the boots.
Sorry to be harsh but that's the reality, I cannot see an investor turning up with £19m plus for operational costs can you?

Thats a real shame cos they have a great history particularly in the 60's and early 70's. For a long time I have felt that Dundee does not have a big enough population to support 2 teams and there should be a merger. It might get them youngsters away from the lassies that LF refers to. I cant see anyone bailng them out unless there is some multi millionaire out there who is from the City and supports them. This money thing has ruined the competition in football but what can we do. 40 years ago Rangers and Celtic could compete with anyone in Europe or England and stand a good chance of beating them.I watched Celtic take a great Leeds Utd team apart at Hampden in 1972 and as you know Rangers wom the ECC that year.Scotland needs to find a solution to its Leagues and that can only mean less professional teams.

It's tough, but didn't Dundee do a Leeds and try to fly a bit too close to the sun i.e. signing Ravanelli etc?

If the club does go bust, maybe it'd be for the best to rebuild and try again with a supporter-led board.

Personally I don't care about Dundee. However, I do feel a bit sorry for any team in debt.

I care but then again I'm from Dundee.

I think that Dundee and Dundee United will become one club (like newcastle united did)

We'll get called Tayside or Dundee city or something like that.

I like Arsenal too but Dundee is my home.

well its not the football team thats 19 million in debt but the clubs backers.the club will be in debt but not as much as that,if they were they would have been closed down by the bank ,and dens park would be a drop in centre for teenage un-married single parents,of which dundee has plenty.

i care for all teams who are in debt, and have gone to watch the likes of albion rovers, montrose ,partick thistle, aidrie,to support them and pay money at the gate etc.
