No.
There are a lot of other things that go with a grilled steak other than pineappple. I say a poor quality chef is one who thinks only pineapple and can make only 2 things. I think a good chef should be able to make more than 2 things(quite simple things) and can't think of using more than 1 thing.

it depends on the recipe, the chef's background, personal tastes, the quality of the produce, if he's cooking kosher, etc. There are alot of determining factors that should be considered before rating someone's work as poor. Pineapple is an expensive fruit ( unless you live in South American where they are less then $1 each) and if you don't have a use for all of the fruit then it's a waste of food and money. There are some recipes that could be enhanced with another fruit and have the same type of effect as a pineapple. maybe a grilled peach to go with that steak. Or some Mango salsa instead of pineapple salsa? I love pineapple and need to incorporate it more in my asian foods that i prepare, but i dont consider myself a poor chef, due to my lack of use of the fruit.

If a chef doesnt use pineapple, its not a bad thing...it all depends on his cuisine the availabilty of pineapples. I love pineapples, but I'd rather have no pineapples then pooor quality pineapples.

Not at all. A chef, like most people, has preferences and strengths. he may choose to not use pineapples because he may know a way around using them, or they are just not necessary in his cuisine or clientelle. Or a third option, he may be allergic or he may not even dsire to use them at all personally.

Every person has their own standards, likes, dislikes and this all reflects in what they cook, do, etc. If you like pineapple in a dish, add it - enjoy!
