Chantix is a drug used for smokers. I was diagnosed with Emphysemia last year. I use and inhaler when needed. (I try not to get addicted to it, thinking i need it.) I try to controll my breathing using my own body. Making myself cough bringin up YUK but it works in clearing the lungs. I was given a prescription for chantrix and I took it for 60 days. I had the worst cravings. So I went to the store and bought the step program. It starts with 7 14 and 21. I started the 21 right away. I gave up all caffiene during the 3 months. As hard as it was, it worked. I have not had a craving for nearly a month.
Also i found a good technique for the mucus.. lay on your side and pat your other side, almost like they do with CF.
Take Care and keep an eye on your breathing.

If it really helps you quit then you should have some improvement. I have COPD and I didn't have any relief from taking that med. It seemed to have the opposite effect on me, as do many meds. I am on oxygen, 24-7. Go for it! You certainly won't be getting any worse. Good luck to you!

There's no way we can know that. You need to ask your doctor; he/she can best evaluate what drugs you can or cannot take.
