good decision! i've been a vegetarian for my whole life and i promise you i do not regret it. i am very thankful that i made that decision. and don't worry! being a veggie will not cause you to waste away, your health will in fact improve because you are no longer polluting it with animal flesh. i always recommend http://www.goveg.com/vegetarian101.asp because it has a lot of recipes and lists of foods you can eat. they will even send you a free starter kit if you want one. you should also talk to any vegetarian friends or family that you have (if you have any) and get their advice. finally, there are plenty of books out there for vegetarians/vegans. check at your local library or book store. good luck! oh and a word of warning: you probably will be criticized for not eating meat- please ignore the narrow-minded people who cannot respect your decision.

You're probably thin because you're vitamin deficient already.
You need carbs. Good carbs. Not bad. A baked potato is healthy. Whole grain pasta as opposed to pasta from refined white flour. Whole grain bread as opposed to bread from refined white flour.
Brown rice as opposed to white rice.
If you are eating that much meat your body has reached a state of toxicity. Another reason you are thin. Do you have bad breath a lot? That's one of the signs of protein toxicity.
Whole fruits and veggies. Nutritional yeast. Nuts, beans. And the above mentioned whole grains.

you can't not eat carb and live, so there is no way to help you
you should just eat a normal vegetarian diet or don't change at all
everything in food contains carb, i don't think you understand what carb is......
carb is the amount of energy the food is going to give you,
the energy coming from converting starch based food into sugar in your stomach, so if you eat apple it's got carbs, meat got carbs
my head explodes

You should have a protein milkshake for breakfast or as a night time snack every day. This will help keep the weight on. You should eat some carbs they are healthy in moderation!
You can cut down on meat one day at a time... first cut off all red meat then chicken then fish... here is a great site
http://www.soyouwanna.com/site/syws/vegan/vegan.html
this is for vegans but you can use to apply to only vegetarianism
Good Luck! ;-)

You do have to eat carbs, eat lots of beans and other sources of protein. Eat and drink soy products too, make sure you have a balanced diet.

If you don't eat carbs or meat, chances are you'll practically starve. Taking meat from the diet will lower the iron content in your blood, not to mention protein, and ultimately make you weaker and more tired all day long. This is a problem a friend of mine is dealing with, as she's recently turned to vegetarianism.
If you're really gung-ho on it, vitamin supplements will probably be crucial.

to become vegetarian you will need eat alot of protein to make up not eating meat. The easiest way is to buy protein powder to make shakes out of it, you can also find proteins in natural foods as well, such as eggs, milk, multigrain bread, you can buy veggie burgers and other soy or tofu products. One of the best ways to get protein is peanut butter and other kinds of nuts. Your body will tell you when you havent had enough protein...you feel a little light headed and you feel slightly starved, usually a good pick me up is a chocolate protein bar you can buy in any store. I usually have a protein packed breakfast of milk, multigrain toast with peanut butter and honey with a couple of eggs. That way, I dont have to worry about protein all day.

Of course, take vitamins.
Why would you stop eating carbs? You need carbs for energy. I would say put carbs back in your diet.
If you're not vegan - You can eat fish, eggs, cheese, butter, desserts, salads, tofu, etc.
I'd also have a lot of healthy shakes.
