You should never take iron supplements unless you have an iron deficiency. Too much can be very bad for you.

If you are diagnosed as being iron-deficient, you will find that most health-food stores carry vegetarian/vegan vitamins for most ailments.

Use cast iron pots and skillets to increase your iron consumption. Always have a source of vitamin C with a meal in which you are taking iron. But be sure to not take your iron in a meal in which you also have large amounts of calcium and/or zinc, as each will interfere with the consumption of the other two.

There are two types of iron that the body can use. One is called heme iron and the other is non-heme iron. The body uses all of the heme iron that it can, but it then stores every other bit that you consume. And heme iron is only found in animal products. Too much iron can be unhealthy. Non-heme iron is plant-based. Your body uses what it needs, and excretes the rest. This is why your doctor would look not just at your blood iron levels but at your iron stores as well.

Has your doctor said that you are anemic? If so, don't ever settle for that as an answer. Anemia itself is a symptom and not an illness, so keep insisting on find the actual problem.

Take one spanich, 1 beetroot both raw . in grinder mix them throughly.Put salt, and a puinch or a spoon of sugar. Just put on flame of a min or two and drink it . This should be taken for 10 days only.U may feel uneasy in stomach or have to go 2 toilet as spanich & beetroot r rich in iron. But if this suits u then i think u wont need any supliments. Dont take this after 10 days as this is rich in iron & 2 much iron is also not good.

Well, I wouldn't drink OJ with my Spinach. You don't have to consume both at the same time, that's not how it works. Anyway, as you will see with the chart below, many fruits are also high in iron. Basically, so many things have iron, it would be hard to avoid. I think it's hard to avoid just about all nutrients. You'd really have to be eating a very harsh diet lacking in fresh foods to miss out on anything. Unfortunately, many people hardly ever eat fresh vegetables or fruits. All instant or frozen dinners these days.

Iron w/ a glass of OJ. The OJ helps your body absorb the iron faster/easier.

Also, many multi-vitamins have iron in them. Just look at the labels.

But be careful. It's easy to take too much iron and make yourself sick. Severe iron overload, which causes liver and heart damage, can occur and is called haemochromatosis.

Iron tablets are there to use, make sure it is water soluble, too much iron is not good for you.
