Cigaro, we ARE animals (scientifically) and it DOES cause discomfort to the mother with swollen breasts. This proves that being a vegan is a bunch of crap.

This is one of the best questions I've ever come across. Honestly... there's so many dimensions to it.

To clear this up for the people who have already answered, a vegan is not only someone who refrains from meat, but also from ANY products that come from animals including MILK.

Science says that humans are, in a nutshell, just another animal. A sophisticated animal, yes, but an animal all the same. If a child were to drink milk from its mother, would this be considered wrong if the person were also a vegan?

I cannot say.

It would make sense, but then again as others have posted, "it is natural," which makes me wonder why drinking milk from a cow is considered "unnatural" for some. My thought is that animals were put on the earth for a reason and if push came to shove and I was starving, an animal would be the first thing I'd eat.

I've lost my point.

Vegans and vegetarians don't seem to live this lifestyle simply because they love eating greens, but also because they're standing up for a belief. The belief that animals should not be treated as unethically as they are. By banning animals products from their diet they are making this point evermore clear. With that in mind, women aren't being sucked dry of their milk on a daily basis... they aren't forming leisons around their nipples... pus pockets aren't forming on them from the roughness of the machinery used to milk other animals either, so I suppose since they're not being treated unethically it should be all right.

Man, I've got myself confused!

What a great question... can't wait to see the answers.

each so often this is basically a count of what products you p.c. to eat. i became right into a vegetarian mutually as pregnant and breastfeeding and my daughter won weight greater valuable than my 2 pals babies. My pals ate meet and weren't in a position to breastfeed, they had to supplement, I in no way did. I did eat beans, and milk products notwithstanding, i became into no longer vegan basically vegetarian. There are well-being nutrition shops that carry vegan products with the protien you and infant will choose and that could desire to paintings o.k.. See in case you have a seventh Day Adventist convention workplace, e book and nutrition keep close to you for the reason which you may eat something they sell. seventh Day adventist do no longer eat meat or meat products the two.

Wow! That makes me think ... Great question!

I would say yes.

If the mom is vegan and it's just mom feeding baby then I would think that is good.

The only way I would think other wise is if she was selling her milk or using it to cook for others.

Which. Hmmm ...

I think breastfeeding is vegan as long as it stays between the mom and baby only.

Interesting.

Not only is it vegan, but vegan babies should be breastfed until 2-3 years old.
My son is allergic to dairy (milk and cheese etc) and he flourished on my breast milk.
Milk from a baby's own mother is not the same as milk from a cow or a goat. Your breasts are designed to give milk to your babies, and cows' "breasts" are designed to give milk to cows. Part of being vegan is living cruelty free. There is nothing cruel about breastfeeding your own offspring, but there is something cruel about someone stealing your offspring from you to turn them into steaks and take your milk from you to give to someone you don't even know.

How can you people think breast milk is not vegan?

While I'm glad you people finally understand here that vegans partake in a lifestyle that in no way involves the exploitation of animals, and yes, while people are indeed animals...

THE WHOLE REASON HUMAN BREAST MILK EXISTS IS TO NOURISH HUMAN INFANTS!!!

This is something a human mother naturally produces to nourish her newborn child.... No animals are mistreated, tested, exploited, etc, for its production.... Alright, sure it might be a bit painful and uncomfortable at first, but... it is natural.

It is not natural to drink the milk of another creature... It is not natural to keep animals in small nasty cages, pump them full of hormones and chemicals and whatever crap that can be found cheapest to make them gain weight or produce more....

Being vegan is a cruelty free lifestyle... It is a lifestyle that strives to be more natural... Not a lifestyle of technicalities and restrictions...

I have many vegan friends, many vegan children, all breastfed... happy healthy families... naturally.

Wow, crazy question! I'll vote for it is vegan or at least acceptable by vegans because human breast milk is produced for human infants. Therefore you are not misusing any animal or it's product(s).

It's vegan as long as breastfeeding mothers don't start factory-farming themselves or sell their babies to the slaughterhouse.

If the mother is vegan as well. What the mother eat becomes milk, therefore the mother should only eat what she wants the baby to eat.

It may be considered vegetarian but certainly not vegan. True vegans would not consume milk or any other animal by products. Interesting point though. Hope some vegans answer.
