My GI doctor wanted me to take nexium as well. I did it for awhile but the side effects gave me alot of trouble. I eventually went back to my old medicine as well. I feel that doctors' in general are not always right about medications. That's why they are always saying lets try this and if it doesn't improve then come back to the office. It seems like whenever a drug company comes out with a new pill then the doctor's want to stick everyone and their brother on it. You know your body better than the doctor does. If going back to your medicine works for you then more power to you. Just let your doctor know:)

you must inform him if the nexium does not work . it his duty to provide you with the best care and if you don't tell him the truth it leaves him open to make mistakes and wrong judgements about what you need.

you can change freely between two drugs,, there is no any significantly difference between both , the efficacy difference is individual variation..
try to take it on an empty stomach to maximize the action
