Wheezing needs to be checked out by the doc. See your doc so he can check this out for you.

Hi there! I am an emergency room nurse, and I have some experience with these problems. Wheezing is often a sign of asthma, but it's presence doesn't diagnose asthma. You can have wheezing with several upper respiratory infections. You could have bronchitis, RSV ( which sounds awful, but usually adults just feel like they have a bad cold,) or you may have the awful respiratory flu that is going around. Even if you had the flu shot, people are still coming down with it, because we were not vaccinated against the strain that is hitting up.

Wheezing is caused by an inflammatory process in the lung tissue. It can also cause lung spasms, both of which make it difficult to breathe.

You should probably consult your doctor on this one for a definitive diagnoses. He may want to prescribe some medication like steroids, hand held nebulizer, and even some antibiotics depending on the case.

Good luck, God bless!

My son gets this during colds and during some allergy seasons. He will then take singlair for the cough and albuterol nebulizer treatments 4 times a day for the wheezing. When you are wheezing you are not taking in enough oxygen. Get to the DR. ASAP!

I had the coughing and wheezing for about 4 months, was on anti-biotic twice, had shots, but Dr. finally put me on nexium. He said sometimes a cough like that is caused by acid reflux. It cleared mine up.

From a medical point of view follow Kimberlies advice...alternative speaking...Increase your Vitamin C intake with at least 2000 mg daily or more. Slow deep breathing, use an alternative like Oil of Oregano as a natural antibiotic. Use a sliced onion, next to your pillow to diminish coughing at night and drink at least one cup of hot water with 1/4 - 1/2 teaspoom or more of cayenne pepper...Use EFT, emotional Freedom technique and slow breathing. Go on a liquid vegetable juice diet. Listen to your inner voice...if it feels like going to a doctor go...if you think you can benefit from the above..do so...You are the master of your body...treat it well. For more info

Can be asthma esp. if you have a family member with asthma. But basing on your description, it sounds more like ALLERGIC RHINITIS. In the meantime, avoid allergens, like flowers (pollen), danders, dust (clean up your bed, curtains, sheets) to avoid such symptoms from recurring. You can also try OTC anti-histamines, but have yourself checked first to be sure.
