ok so i have to do a 300 word essay on any athlete that has asthma and i have to talk about how they deal with it while being an athlete. so can anybody help me. thanks in advance

Asthma is a disease that is caused by narrowing of airways characterized by paroxysms of breathlessness, chest tightness, and wheezing.
Types of Asthma.
Intrinsic asthma and Extrinsic asthma.
Asthma attacks are caused by narrowing of airways by smooth muscle spasm, excess mucous secretion these can be caused by extrinsic factors like Dust allergen pollens etc, sometimes intrinsic factors like exercises etc.
In case of athletes there has to be a need assessment/ diagnosis done by qualified professionals to find out type of asthma. Mostly persons with exercise induced asthma do not reach elite level because it needs higher level of exercise fitness. In other cases it has to be determined with PFT(pulmonary functions tests) and exercise testing to find level of exercise prescription.
In normal day to day routine exercises the athlete can to breathing exercises before and after the exercise schedule. They can prevent an attack that way further more they can have MDI ( metered dose inhalers) of fast acting bronchodialators like asthalin or terbutaline. The above mentioned drugs can be used only after prescription from professionally qualified people.

Raja is right , but to add to that ..a lot of people are diagnosed ,and treated for asthma ,when in fact they have the beginning stages of COPD ,...Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease , it happens more than is reported
