How is it done? Is it exercises? Please specify wht & how & to whom this is done. People keep asking me why I didn't do it , but MDs never bothered to mention it. How much can it help a severely damaged heart after MASSIVE MI?

It is a series of 30-40 visits to Cardiac Rehab(a gym with nurse and doctors that are there to monitor you while you exercise). Stationary bicycles, treadmills, and a big wheel on the wall that you turn much like a boat wheel. You may only have to do 10 min. on one thing at a time. These will build up your breathing, re-expanding your lungs. The next visit could be the same. The next time could have a few more min. added to your equipment. Then when all of your visits are done, you get a neat certificate and a cool t-shirt. My husband did this after his quadruple bypass. It was amazing, then he went back to work. He was 60, then.

Well, maybe this will help..At the age of 51 years, my (late) father had a massive coronary. He was admitted and diagnosed, but the doctors told him the technology (back then) for by-pass surgery wasn't perfected and he should go to cardiac rehab to prepare his heart for the subsequent surgery.

He was advised to purchase a device which allowed him to get on his hands and knees and alternately push and pull forward and backward from one side to another. The device had steel cables synchronizing each side (hand and knee pads, respectively). Ok, sorry for the long explanation, however this was all for mild to moderate aerobic development.

Swimming is another cardiac rehab activity, good for aerobic improvement. I think this is related to your situation, maybe not. Best wishes, and take 1/2 an aspirin a day!
