To tell you the truth,I don't really know if your diabetic wife could drink coke zero since she is a diabetic because of the possible sugar in the coke zero. I would like to reccommend that you call the Coca Cola company's customer service 1-800 phone number that can be found on any of their soft drink products that you purchase. When you call the company, make sure to tell the customer service representative, that your wife is diabetic and you need to know what kind of sugar or sugar substitute is used in this soft drink!! Good luck and I hope that I have been helpful?? ;-)

Some sodas contain a sugar alcohol in place of a sugar..not really safe. The sugar alternative called Splenda is also not safe for diabetics according to my doctor. It is not an artificial sweetener but a blend of the two. Some "diet" sodas use splenda instead of regular sugar now days. Check to make sure it does not contain sugar alcohol as most diabetic candies do or Splenda. I an diabetic and after drinking Diet Coke with Splenda , it shot my glucose levels to 530.. not a good thing.. I tried the same soda again without eating anything or drinking anything else and it went from 107 to 229. So , we diabetics have a hard time finding safe and palatable things to eat but it is possible.Try the regular Diet cherry coke instead of the zero. Sorry for such a long response.

the sodium content of most sodas will do that. Watch them all.

I would highly recommend NO Carmel colored sodas at all.
Zero sprite or Sugar free 7up are my favorites.

I also love to mix "sparkling sugar free waters" with Crystal Light, for my own soda water.

My favorite drink now is NO JOKE- the suger free flavored water at Walmart. The white grape, black cherry and strawberry actually taste sweet and I love them.

I found that most packaged foods have this problem.
I buy plain oatmeal and put splendra, almonds, cran-raisins and Cinnamon in it with some egg whites for breakfast, really helps.
The nuts (protein) help to balance out the sugar while it processes. Yet you must by raw, unsalted ones.
I eat 6-8 times a day now, small meals and lots of raw nuts. To keep my blood sugar balanced.

Good luck. Diabetes will change your life for the better if you allow it. Embrace the changes and break the cycle in our entire home. You will never look at "food" the same way again.

stress is the main thing that spikes my sugar. honestly

there are some diabetics that for some strange reason can not handle fake sweeteners. It shouldn't have any effect but I do know a few type 2's that can not drink any diet pop, any pop with artificial sugars. If they do they spike. I am a type 1 and so far i have not noticed any effect, think goodness cause i love diet Pepsi.

Well, none of these drinks are safe due the risk of renal calculus, perhaps something that isn't good either is that the kind of sweeteners used in soda drinks are so good teasing our brain that it produce insulin, but the problem is that because there's no sugar in the blood the insulin finishes in the muscles area and becomes in fat. I think is better for your wife natural juices that the sugar on them is natural and is simple sugar easy for the body to metabolizes it.
