If its a yeast infection your g/f does not necessarily need to see an OB/GYNE for that. You can go to any pharmacy store and buy vaginal suppositories and cream for yeast infections. try the ones for 3 or 7 days. If this does not help, then go to see a regular doctor not a specialist. The family practice doctor can determine if your g/f needs to see a specialist.
signs and symptoms of yeast:
Itching and burning in the vagina and around the vulva (the skin that surrounds your vagina)
A white vaginal discharge that may look like cottage cheese
Pain during sexual intercourse
Swelling of the vulva

She could be having an allergic reaction to the laundry soap she has been using. The genital area is more sensitive than the rest of your body. If she is using soap instead of cleansers made for the genital area this could cause peeling and itching too. Make sure it isn't a yeast infection first though.

maybe she isnt peeling, but only having a lot of discharge which causes itching. She should eb checked, but it doesn't have to be an std to cause things. It could be irritated from something. Thats how my friend found out she was allergic to latex and couldn't use condoms.

If she doesn't have any discharge, it could be a result of something irritating her vagina. Sometimes women are super sensitive in their nether regions. She may be having a slight allergic reaction to her undergarments. Tell her not to use fragrant soaps. She could just use water and her hand to clean her vagina. If this doesn't suit her, tell her to buy Dove soap. Also, she could switch to a softer toilet paper.
Another tip is to use detergent without fragrance and dyes. Make sure to wash her panties in hot water, and maybe even giving them a second rinse as well.
Make sure to wash your hands before you touch her!
she should also wear white cotton panties, not thongs.

Quite possibly a yeast infection, and if she does have one, she needs to get to her OB/GYN as soon as she can, and get treatment.
