this question depends on your health as an individual ages. as you get older certain health problems arise which could and can be exasperated by spicy foods.
but there are millions of people in India, Thailand... that
eat spicy foods their entire life.
it is just a matter of an individual person's health & what their physician recommends.

It is simply a matter of what spices you are talking about. Ginger, hot peppers, curry, and chiles are not bad for you by themselves. It is the sodium that is bad for you. It is not the spices themselves, but it is the added ingredients. You can make a spicy chillie, as long as you do not add salt, sugar, or any MSG's, you will be fine. No non toxic, natural spices are bad for you by them selves. It is the additional things that are bad for you. There are so many health benefits to natural spices, that if you do not have any heartburn, or experience any extreme discomfort when eating these foods, then eat away. Spicy foods enable the brain to release natural endorphins into your blood stream, that are very health.
Just listen to your body, and do what it says. A little common sense goes a long way.

Yes, it can give you heartburn. The extra acid is bad for your esophagus and can cause all sorts of problems or diseases. It depends on the individual like everyone, but to avoid heartburn and other problems you can't eat spicy food every day...some people can though..I am jealous.
