Actually, speaking as someone who's had it removed..
the bile duct increases slightly in size, to accomodate a little storage in place of the gall bladder. It still responds to the same hormone (cholecystekinin), and so the body makes up for it.

The bile moves directly from the liver to the small intestine. This usually does not cause a problem unless one eats a high fat meal.
