There's no "cure" for the common cold. The virus is self-limiting, meaning it will run it's course. Colds generally last from 10-14 days. All he can do is treat the symptoms. His preferred analgesic for aches and pains and fever control. Lots of rest and fluids. An OTC cold med will treat most symptoms. A little extra vitamin C and zinc. Next time, he can try Zicam at the first sign of a cold. It will shorten the duration of the cold. It really works.

clear liquid diet for 24 hours. This means if you can't see through it then don't eat it! NO MILK. Milk makes it harder to cough all the nasty stuff up. If he is running fever control that with tylenol/motrin. Nyquill is always good for cold. But pretty much rest and liquids. It's that time of the year, everyone is getting the nasty cold stuff! Give it a few days and he will get to feeling better. good luck!

There is no cure for the common cold however,
1. Drink, drink, drink (juice water, gaterade)
2. Get enough rest
3. zinc lozenges
4. Chicken soup
4. If there is fever or coughing for over 4 days, see your doctor.

Why is this in the STDs section? Did you give him a cold on his penis? Seriously though...the best thing you could do is not bug him or occupy his time. Get him to bed so he can rest up. The more rest he gets, the sooner he will be better.

take some cold medicine and take a hot shower and let the steam fill the room, then go to bed extra early so his body can rest and have a humidifier in his bedroom

I swear by zicam spray.
They have different kinds.

For Flu, cold, cough.
They have nasal spray, mouth spray, tabs that melt in your mouth.

I like the zicam oral spray for colds. It works wonders.
