I know they say its not contagious but I spend all day with him and I have had this cold off and on for a while. I had had a cough but it was loose. Now its started to sound harsh, like a barking kind of cough. Whats else could it be? I dont have asthma or any other respiratory problems before.

You are probably getting it, even though its not contagious, that doesn't mean that you can't get it. Most of the time it runs in the family and once you've had bronchitis you will get it again.

Just because it isn't contagious does not mean that you cannot develope bronchitis. A lot of people get it who never had it before. Several members in my family have it, and usually when one gets it, the others will too. Some of us live 500 miles apart of each other. It just happens that way sometimes. Especially this time of the year.

He probably has a cold and you can catch it too. It can get into the bronchial tubes causing bronchitis for both of you.

Ill make it simple.

Bronchitus is not contagious.

The cold/flu virus that caused you to get Bronchitus is.

Chances are you caught whatever virus/and or bacteria that caused your sons Bronchitus, and it had the same effect on your bronchial tubes.

Bronchitsus is an efffect of a bacterial/and or virus. Its not a virus /bacteria in and of itself.
