Hello...I was just wondering - I have gotten cold sores before. They don't last long, usually 3 days or so..I also have one now, and I mom told me it means I have Herpes...is this true? I know it can be spread through direct contact, but I've never had sex, and I'm a little worried.

Is it possible to develop a cold sore without having Herpes? If not, I'm really concerned that people are going to want to stay away from me (romantically) because they don't want to date someone who has Herpes.

I really hope I get an answer saying a simple cold can cause a sore...please help!

Thanks =)

Cold sores are the worst.
So many people carry the virus, but sometimes don't break out. There are two forms of herpes, simplex 1 (the mouth) and simplex 2 (genital)
Of course some people freak out still b/c it is still a form of herpes. Usually, before one is about to occur, it will tingle for a little while. When this happens, I would get Valtrex. It's a prescription that your Dr. gives you. If you take 2 of these every day for 3 days, BEFORE the cold sore comes up, it will not even show up... the medicine will make it go away before it breaks the skin.

Cold sores are actually a form of herpes simplex. It is caused by a virus, and yes, can be caused by a cold(indirectly). The mouth herpes has nothing to do with the genital herpes, unless you have had oral sex with a cold sore. Then it IS possible to transmit the disease from the oral kind to the genital kind.

To be fully sincere, I learn an editorial that led me to try an ICE cube. That is it! Follow an ice cube to the sore a couple of times a day and it goes away. Going even additional, if you happen to alternate your food regimen round a bit, you will not even get bloodless sores anymore. I tried this recommendation a couple of months in the past and it has worked flawlessly.

To be thoroughly truthful, I study an editorial that led me to attempt an ICE cube. that's it! save on with an ice cube to the sore some cases an afternoon and it is going away. Going even further, in case you alter your eating regimen around somewhat, you will no longer even get chilly sores anymore. i attempted this recommendation some months in the past and it has worked completely.

hey. yeah i get them too. It is considered a type of herpes, but not the sexually transmitted one. if you kiss someone when you have a cold sore present chances are he/she will get herpes. don't wory though, most ppl by the time they are grown up they are exposed to the virus.
