last night i had really bad pains under my sternum area and it felt like someone was sitting on my chest.i know these are symptoms of a heart attack so i went to the hospital.after many tests it was determined i did not have a heart attack, much to my relief.i was however given a cat scan which found a kidney stone.they had given me an aspirin and nitroglycerine pill earlier.the pain in my chest went away .why did the pain go away after taking the pill if there was nothing wrong with my heart.does it work for other aches also?it makes me wonder if the dr.was wrong.thanks.

If you were having a heart attack there would be more symptoms, like pain down the inside of your left arm maybe in the jaw .dizziness, sweating ,and shortness of breath. Many times anxiety will cause this type of pain and yes nitro would help even without heart trouble. It is good that you followed up on it though, many women have heart attacks and don't know they are .
