There's this guy, at the place my sister works, and he has AIDS. She works at a restaurant and he's a cook. My sister is afraid that he might have accidentaly spit on the food (since when people talk, they sometimes spit) and at the end of the day my sister takes home some food. So if she has AIDS, I probably do because I sometimes drink from the same glass of water. And I'm only 15, I don't want to die now. Oh man, I probably have AIDS.

I really hope this question is a joke.
No. You cannot get aids from spit.
You cannot get aids from kissing.
You cannot get aids from sharing the same bathroom.
You cannot get aids from hugging.
You cannot get aids from sharing a glass of water.
What the heck are they teaching you in sex ed?

Home > Prevention > Ask HIV InSite If someone positive spits in my eye, what are the chances of transmission? Answered by Nicolas Sheon, HIV InSite Prevention Editor Question A person who is HIV+ spit on me and some of it went in to my eye. What are my chances of having HIV? This was 4 mos. ago. Answer Saliva does not pose a risk for transmitting HIV. Researchers are actually looking into a substance in saliva that kills HIV in vitro. Of course if the spitter had just undergone dental surgery, then there would be blood mixed with the saliva. But assuming an intact mouth, this is not a risk. According to the CDC guidelines:

Totally impossible. You can get AIDS from kissing. Where did you get your sex ed? There is a incredibly small possibility that cold sores, bleeding gums, etc. can pass the virus. There have been "documented" cases. It has held a theoretical risk for some time.

aids are not transfered by spit.the cells in the spit have to be alive to get aids, and when ,blood or what ever leaves your body its dead in like 2 seconds .people dont know enough about this stuff.

in order to get hiv from saliva you would have to drink like 5 gallons of it. While it CAN happen, it is extremely rare. If they really thought he was a high risk to give it to people, they wouldn't allow him to do that job. Neither one of you has anything to worry about.

Yes you can, but even from a large amount of saliva it's very rare that there will be enough hiv in it to give someone aids.
