A few weeks ago, I began feeling a short pain in my chest followed by instant weakness and light headedness. The pain feels like being stabbed on the left side of my chest with each heart beat. I went to the doctor the second time this has happened and he told me that my heart looks good on X-Ray and sounds good, but I still feel the pain and lightheadedness occasionally. He said it may be caused by caffeine. And I've begun exercising more intensely so I was thinking it may be caused by hurting a chest muscle, but that doesn't explain the weakness. Has anyone else experienced this?

if this continues request that your doctor do a twenty four hour halter monitor test on you. for this test you wear a heart monitor it records your hearts activity and will show if you are having a heart problem when this pain occurs. this pain could be many things such a s an anxiety attack or even a pinched nerve in your neck or thoactic spine

Stress. It could probably be stress.I am only 16 and I have severe chest pain from time to time. I belive it is hereditary. My mom seems to get it more then I do, but the chest pain is still persistant. Sooo the way I try to make myself feel better is to take long deep breaths. It honestly may not be that big of a help, but at least it will do something. Good Luck :)

I have experienced the same sort of thing but have not seen a doc about it. I wish i knew more about it, my symptoms were about like yours.

i thought mine was coffee related, mine started after my company changed coffee distributors... but the pain can happen sometimes in the middle of the day long after i had any coffee.

I still dont know what it is nor have I seen a dr. I dont think its a heart attack or anything like that, but it does worry me and can sure cause some anxiety.

How old are you? My sister used to have these when she was a teenager and eventually grew out of them. If you are older and having these symptoms however, I think it's time to visit the doctor again. If this doctor can't do anything for you again, then try visiting another one. You don't want to skip by a problem that could be serious.

This needs to be checked out more thoroughly. See your doc again and ask for a more thorough checkup. Stop the caffiene and stop exercising for a couple days too to see if this helps but see your doc to be on the safe side.
