try googling the 80/10/10 diet, I am about 80 percent raw, 20 percent cooked or deydrated. Yes, I think you, as an athlete, could thrive on it. There are some great groups on yahoo, rawschool, livingfoods, pathofhealth. All with great advice. Good luck and good choice!

I'm guiessing this diet will not work for you. If you are busy at work, yes, you might could bring yoru own lunch, but what about supper? If it's a night you are going to sports play, you can't exactly eat out much on a raw diet. I'd worry about getting adequate protein, iron, calcium, and B nutrients.
Instead, maybe just include as many raw fruits and veggies as possible, and supplement w/ a few cooked or heated items.
Incidently, there are some nutrients that are more bioavailable after bing cooked, than if eaten raw. Cooking is not an evil thing.

Raw food has the most vitamins and mineral. The more you prepare the food, the more you loose some of the good stuff.
That said, it is an extreme diet. If you are athletic, you are unlikely to get sufficient protein from raw food alone. Also, if you are not used to eat a lot of raw food already, you may get digestive problems until your body adjusts.
Why not eat a lot of raw food along with other healthy cooked food - say a piece of steamed salmon?
