There are so many signs of having a heart attack i had one my self and didn't really understand the warning signs which in my Case a few weeks before were pains in my back and shoulder thought that i had pulled a muscle, symptoms like indigestion which looking back occured when i was walking up a slight incline, the morning of my heart attack i went clammy and nausea then i got this horrific pain in the side of my chest which then came on the other side. I would suggest now with hind sight any abnormal pain, sweating, breathlessness take your self off to the a and e department where they will check you out straight away or if the symptoms are not really too bad but are different go straight to you doctor i wish i had now then i possibly would have avoided, a heart attack, a stent in my heart and aortic valve surgery.

Its only when you have had a heart attack and get all the information from the hospital that you can relate to the symptoms that occur before the heart attack

be sensible

Don't forget that since heart attack is one of the leading causes of death in the United States, it is very important to act right away if you have any warning signs (see above). Chest pain or pressure and other related symptoms can be similar to other things such as heartburn, indigestion or hiatal hernia, but assume it is heart related until your doctor proves otherwise. Half of heart attack patients die within an hour of when they first have symptoms. Those who get care right way have a better chance of surviving. Here are some guidelines:
•Stop what you are doing and lie down.
•If your pain stops when you rest and starts again when you begin an activity or experience emotional stress, call your doctor right away.
•If your doctor did NOT order nitroglycerin for chest pain, and the pain does not get better with rest, call 911 or you local emergency service. Do not go to the hospital in a private vehicle.
•If the doctor DID order nitroglycerin, take one and wait 5 minutes (make sure you are laying down). If pain is not better, take another nitroglycerin and wait 5 more minutes. If the pain is still there, take the third nitroglycerin. If the pain is there after the third nitroglycerin, call 911 or your local emergency service. Do not drive yourself to the hospital. If someone besides the ambulance takes you to the hospital they will not have the medicines and oxygen to help you.

Call 911 then chew one adult dose aspirin (325 mg) as long as you don't have any symptoms of a stroke. The chewing of the aspirin will help to begin thinning your blood. If calling 911 is not an option, have someone drive you to the nearest emergency room, do not drive yourself. Men and women often have different warning signs of a heart attack. There are many good websites listing the possible signs or ask your doctor for information about warning signs of heart attack.

Pain, numbness, discomfort, pins and needles feeling, or heaviness in the chest area for more than five minutes at a time needs immediate medical attention. Also if there is jaw pain, pain or discomfort in the middle, upper back, pain or discomfort in one or both arms, shortness of breath, or nausea. Do not wait to seek medical attention, chewing an aspirin right away can help or even save a person's life. I just had these symptoms yesterday and I went straight to the emergency room where the gave me an EKG and took a chest X-ray right away....I am fine now and it turned out to be a panic attack but I am glad I found out. Symptoms of a panic attack can be identical to a heart attack!

If you were having warning signs of heart attack you would be either in the hospital or dead already.

Panic Attack symptoms are very very similar.
I have been having panic attacks , and I only found that out when I ended up at the hospital emergency room.
It was quite the relief to know that I wasn't going to die from a heart attack !
There are many sites on Panic Attacks, go on-line and learn a little bit more from them.
Good Luck.

Call 911 or call your doc and ask when they can see you. If you're having heart attack symptoms, they will tell you to call 911. While you're waiting for the ambulance, take a couple aspirin. Unlock your front door. Then sit down and diminish the amount of oxygen your body needs, to decrease the load on your heart.

Heart Attack Red Flags: 1. Extreme fatigue In the days or even weeks before a heart attack, more than 70% of women experience debilitating, flulike exhaustion. You may suddenly feel too tired to cook dinner or lift your laptop. 2. Mild pain Rather than the elephant on the chest, women may feel less severe pain?and not always in the region of the heart. Pressure or achiness can occur in the breastbone, upper back, shoulders, neck, or jaw. 3. Profuse sweating You may find yourself suddenly drenched in perspiration for no apparent reason, or your face may be pale or ashen. 4. Nausea or dizziness Prior to a heart attack, women often have indigestion or even vomit. You may also feel like you're about to pass out. 5. Breathlessness Almost 58% of women report panting or inability to carry on a conversation because they couldn't catch their breath. 6. Sleeplessness Nearly half of women have trouble falling asleep or wake up during the night in the weeks before a coronary. 7. Anxiety "Many women experience a sense of impending doom or fear before a heart attack," says Dr. Legato, though experts don't necessarily understand why. Nonetheless, it's real and it matters. "That's your body telling you to pay attention. Trust those instincts," she advises.
