We have always talked about preventing cancer and now there is a vaccine that is able to prevent one type of cancer. It is safe and effective. When your child gets the vaccine you do not need to say "this is for a cancer you can get having sex". By giving this vaccine to child it prevents them from getting HPV at any age. If they start having sex when they are 25 it is still a good idea to get it when they are young.

I think there is not enough info about this vaccine yet. First thing, they don't admit that there is aluminum in the vaccine, or that the placebo was filled with aluminum either - aluminum has been tied to neurological problems.
Additionally, there are thousands of serotypes of HPV, and gardasil only covers 4 serotypes, only 2 of which "prevent" cervical cancer. Thus far, the vaccine hasn't been proven to prevent cervical cancer at all... Nobody in the study got cervical cancer, not those taking the placebo, or those taking gardasil. The vaccine is ZERO percent effective at preventing cervical cancer.
HPV is NOT the only way to get cervical cancer, anyway.
I will not vaccinate myself or my kids with this.

It is something that is very worthwhile. I am not sure it should be mandatory but I would like to see it offered right in the schools for as many girls that want it. Being able to prevent cancer is a huge step foreward. I know my girlfriend and many others wish something like this had been available for them years ago so they didn't have to go through all the treatments and mental anguish of knowing they had cancer.

Sounds like a great idea to me, HPV is a serious issue. kids today are have sex at a very early age...no we shouldnt incurrage them but it doesnt hurt to protect them when we can.
With enough time it's very possible to completly wipe a virous out. Like small pox, last person in the US to be sick with it was in the early 70's

It's a shame we even need to consider it, but if it will prevent cancer in someone's future, we'll have to go for it.
