I have had a persistent problem for more than 5 years now: at night and early in the morning I feel my throat bloacking up and every breath irritates and 'tickles' the back of the throat. This causes coughing and gagging. I have also vomited a number of times due to this. But strangely most of the times having a few sips of water cures this. I have this happen to me everyday and its so annoying! I dont know if its asthma, allergy or dry cough. Please help!

Sounds More like an Allergic type of Asthma!
However you would need to go to your Doctor and get screened correctly for asthma,

Sounds like "acid reflux" the throat is not like choking with asthma, it's deeper you can feel the air won't go in the lung or come out but you can swallow just fine. Maybe something with the esophagus. You should get it checked out, also--the coughing in Asthma is to get the lung clear, a forced cough not a tickle sensation, it's you trying to break an airway open, no gagging involved either. An allergy to fish makes the throat tickle and the tongue and it gets itchy, iodine allergy to seafood, better go to the Dr. and find out both maladies can be deadly. Good luck!

After 5 years, you should have gone to a doctor by now.
Asthma has to do with breathing. If you smoke, that might be the cause. But it sure doesn't sound good. Hope you make out okay.

I don't really know, but I actually know that I have asthma. PLEASE,DON'T TRY THIS AT HOME! Ok. I was at my friends house when we were playing around. We threw stuff at each other, play video games, and...wrestle. Of course I was winning. I kicked him, gave him an uppercut, and many more. But then... I tripped over a controller and slammed to the ground, then my friend gave me a hard kick to my stomach on the ground. Then, I couldn't breathe for a while. It hurted SO bad, that I knew i had asthma. But theres an easier way to know you have asthma. Get a friend of yours, and tell her/him to run around with you at the park. Then, to know if you have asthma, keep running until you get completely tired. Ask your friend if he/shes tired. If not, you probally have asthma. The meaning is that if you get tired faster and easily than your friend, then you have asthma.

No one can diagnose you over Yahoo! Answers. What you are describing can be any number of different things. You need to go to the doctor and have a professional look you over. That is the only way you'll really know what you have, and the best way to find out what to do about it. Good luck!

Not asthma....probably hives...allergies. Why don't you just try talking to a doctor about this...but no worries about it being asthma. Those aren't the symptoms.

Simply have a doctor take a throat swab. It's probably a virus. Five years? and your JUST NOW asking about it?

It looks allergy. My advice is to avoid smoke, sweets and spices first and if it persists go and see your GP to prescribe you simple medication to cotrol it.
