My lung collapsed about a month ago, a little less. I was in the hospital for about 48 hours, during which time a chest tube was inserted and my lung reinflated.

Today, I have been experiencing most of the same symptoms except for the EXTREME pain. I feel and hear bubbling in my chest. My shoulder hurts in the exact same place. And the new symptom is the pain I experience whenever I laugh or cough (the coughing is new, I didn't cough last time).

So I'm kinda scared I might have to go back to the emergency room; I really don't want to. Is this the kind of thing I can waste time on and ask strangers on Yahoo!, or should I just skip that and seek medical attention?

Skip asking here and get to the hospital! This isn't a hangnail. This is serious. Good luck.

I would seek medical attention right away, especially if this is something that has been going on for a while now. If you feel shortness of breath (SOB), especially during times of rest, it can indicate something serious. Do you feel SOB while doing regular daily routines such as cooking, bathing, watching TV? Also, the tingling that you feel may indicate a lack of tissue perfusion to your extremities. Make an appointment with your doctor or a walk-in. They'll most likely perform some blood work, check your arterial blood gases, and your oxygen saturation. You want to rule out a pulmonary embolism, which is a clot in your lungs and can be very serious. This often causes sudden SOB that is often unexplainable. I am not a doctor, so please have your physician check it out!

It's clear that something's still going on; you should probably be seen again right away. Tomorrow morning may be soon enough, but it's not overkill to go to the ED.

If they haven't done a bronchoscopy, they probably should if this really is a continuation of the original problem.

It may be that the original problem wasn't completely resolved and more time and treatment will do it, but your doctors need to do some digging to figure out exactly what's caused these episodes.

Hope you feel better soon!

You answered your own question there jr. This is nothing to jack around with. If your'e experiencing the same symptoms that led up to the first callapse then you need to see a physician immediatly and further be referred to a pulmonologist. These things can occur spontaniously I hear in adolescents and young adults but this does without a doubt need to be investigated by a specialist.

you could have a pleural effusion which can happen after a chest tube....go see the doctor as soon as possible as this can lead to more serious issues....I have been dealing with this for almost 5 years now and have to be vigilant when I get a cold etc...have now been hospitalized 4 times for this so don't wait.....good luck

Well, you seem to be asking anyway. But yeah, I'd go to the hospital. If not the ER then a doctor's apointment ASAP.
